Maryland law requires any business or individual hired by a homeowner for the purpose of tree removal, tree trimming, tree pruning, cabling or related activities for all trees over 20 feet in height to be a licensed tree expert in good standing with the Department of Natural Resources. Permits are usually only required for services performed on curbside trees. The cost of the permit is $25, and we will make any arrangements when required.
QIs a tree expert license or permit required for my job?
Yes, we have been licensed since 1996, and our Maryland Licensed Tree Expert number is 552. We are fully insured up to $2 million.
QIs A-1 Tree & Mulch licensed and insured?
For small to medium trees, most jobs are completed within 2 to 4 hours. Large, dead or multiple trees will take 4 to 8 hours. There is no need to take off work or remain at home as our crews are self-contained and have no need to enter your home or garage.
QHow long will the job take? Do I need to be home?
Yes, fresh wood chips are a great way to keep the weeds down along pathways or wooded areas, but should not be used in flower beds next to fresh plantings for at least 3 months. If you would like to keep the wood, just let us know at the time of estimate.
QCan I keep the chips or wood?
Yes, call the office now to schedule a time for your free estimate. We will be glad to work with your schedule. We are available in the evenings and on weekends, too.
QDo you give free estimates?
Payment is expected at completion of work by check, credit card or cash. Other terms may be available.
QWhen and how do I pay for the work performed?
Every tree is different. For small and medium sized trees (under 50 feet) we will use a tree climber and ropes to safely lower all limbs and wood. For larger trees (above 50 feet) or dead trees, we will also use our bucket truck or truck-mounted crane to assist us.
QHow will my tree be cut down?
Typically smaller tree debris is chipped into our truck with our 18-inch capacity chipper and hauled away to our recycling yard. Material larger than 18 inches in diameter is taken away in 6- to 20-foot lengths to our recycling yard.
QWhat happens to the tree after you cut it down?
Our goal is to remove your tree as safely and efficiently as possible, but due to the nature of this work you may find a small divot or hole in the lawn from a tree branch. We will not place our trucks or equipment on your lawn without prior approval from you.
QWill there be any damage to my lawn or property?
